Life moves quickly and yet with a wonderful elegance in light, color and humanity in North Vietnam. The
opportunities for image making exist virtually everywhere from dawn to dusk and beyond - the people, the faces, and the intense daily energy.

North Vietnam, especially Hanoi, was devastated during the Vietnam War. From Hanoi to the sea there were carpet bombings that essentially destroyed the infrastructure of the city and eliminated tens of thousands of lives. Yet today the north is full of vitality driven by a youthful, exceptionally creative and energetic population. Though a communist country, there is a thriving, committed capitalistic culture. It can fairly be said that North Vietnam is active and animated.
EVERY moment in North Vietnam is vivid, captivating and visually "thickly described".

This North Vietnam photographic adventure has a broad agenda in terms of finding the best places to visit and photograph. Thus,
there are three very different environments which we will visit. The first part of the trip will be spent over five days in Hanoi; the second part of the trip will be spent over four days in Sapa among the Red and Black Hmong tribes staying in a gorgeous ecolodge looking across a grand valley to the high mountains of the very north of the country and surrounded by Hmong villagers. The third part of the trip will take place on a most comfortable junk (a traditional Vietnamese ship), through the immense karst formations of Halong Bay, one of the areas of the earth selected as a World Heritage site.
